Meet upcoming Chicago performer Jayme Miller.
Where do you live, how many kids do you have, ages?
I live about 90 miles southwest of Chicago in Marseilles, IL.
I have two boys, Nolen, 11 and Packston will be 8 this month. My twin girls, Jacy and Addy are 6.
How are you creative post children? How has it changed since pre-baby?
As a teacher, I have always had those creative juices flowing! Once I had kids, I’ve realized that the time factor can become an issue. I have learned to find ways to be creative and fun on a budget and without as much fuss. The easier and simpler a project, the better! Decorating my home and party planning have been a fun way to pull ideas in my head together that have a practical purpose in my life. Gotta love those pinterest boards!!
When do you find time to create?
I love to journal at the end of the night once the kids are in bed and after I have played my lives on Candy Crush! That gives me a time to put down my thoughts and plans for things. It also lets me reflect on my day, my relationships and my goals in life. Once I have a plan, I like to involve my kids in projects so that they feel a part of things.
How did you hear about ExMo?
My friend, Stacey Murry Burke has seen ExMo. She sent me an email telling me about it and said, “I’m not saying you have to do this, but you HAVE to do this!”
Do you have a background in acting/writing?
If you consider dance competition or high school musicals acting/stage experience, sure! I write for friends and family… speeches, poetry, creative short stories. I have been on Family Feud and the Rosie O’Donnell Show in the games segment. That is about the extent of my stage performances!
What creative projects are you up to?
I am considering going back to teaching full time now that the kids will all be in school. I have always wanted to write a children’s book, so maybe that will be next on my bucket list!
