Thank you very much to all of you who have submitted, been in our show, helped at the shows and attended our shows. To our family members who work the box office, husbands that bartend, neighbors who design, mother in laws who know every name of every performer and grandmas and nannies that watch the kids while we are at the show, thank you.
What a fun weekend. Yes, it was a hot LA weekend but if you made it to our show then you know you had the hottest ticket in town.
Friday opened our show up with a bang. Jessica and myself dawned our gorgeous dresses from Unique Vintage. We had our hair and makeup done and had some photos taken in front of our new Marquee. I must say I felt like a lucky woman. Playing dress up with my friend on the streets of LA, my 6 year-old self was beaming.
On Saturday a couple was eating at Urban Eats, directly across the theatre, and they said
“Everyone in the restaurant was coming to see this show, so we thought we would miss out if we didn’t come see it too.”
My amazing mother in law flew in from Boston to help run the ticketing booth.
All of the brave local LA moms shared their stories on stage.
By Sunday night we were easily collapsing into laughter as it was a “bit” warm backstage, 100 in the Valley baby. The cast had fallen into a rhythm.
We look forward to one more weekend. As one cast member said as she left last night, “I’m sad only one more weekend and a regular work week.” I know I said. The show runs are short, all the moms are far too busy to keep this pace up, but it sure is a wonderful point of creative refuge.
Last night Expressing Motherhood went scouting out Magnolia Way where Burbank’s Ladies Night Out was going on. We had a great time. Easy parking, a ton of food trucks (the grilled cheese truck was there) discounted shopping and a ton of women walking around wearing vintage wear. This event will also take place on our opening night, September 28th. A great event to come to prior to our show. It starts at 6PM. Our show opens at 8PM, plenty of time to grab some food and do a little shopping.
Magnolia Way has a major retro influence going on. We will be wearing dresses from Unique Vintage for the opening night. Unique Vintage has also generously donated a $100 gift certificate to some lucky patron at Expressing Motherhood.
We are also thrilled to announce that on October 5th Porto’s Bakery has generously donated three items of food for everyone in the audience. Porto’s wanted to support the fact that we have always donated 5-10% of our money to a micro-finance called “International.” Thank you Porto’s!
